Whats going on
19 April 2025
Due to my back issues I have stopped running Gibbs. I am currently scheduled for surgery next week with about 4 weeks of restrictions and then some rehab. I am hoping to get back in the ring around July but I guess time will tell.
Caryl is running Deeks in trials, and Ellie and Deeks in the Agility League. It is hard not to run Gibbs, but watching Caryl working both dogs does help with the disappointment of not running. The progress she is making with both dogs puts a smile on my face.
Ziva
19 April 2025
My girl Ziva turned 12 in January. She may not get around as well as she used to but she still gets out there and gives the young ones a run for their money. She just does not last as long as she used to, but it still puts a smile on my face.
Ziva was the star on the first day of agility. She returned to the agility ring for one last time and participated in the veterans run. She pranced around the ring like she owned it, which she did at that moment. With the applause and cheers from the crowd she added an extra step or two to keep the excitement of being back in the ring extra special. Heck it even added an extra step from me, To finish her run we did all twelve weaves and then very proudly took the last jump. It was a run both of us will remember for a very long time.
Deeks
21 May 2025
Caryl moved Deeks to his measured jump height of twenty inches in January and has had quite a journey already. So far he has earned his Novice and Open titles in standard, his novice title in jumpers, and his novice title in Fast. He has also earned his first Q in Time to Beat. Caryl is still doing a lot of training during his runs to make sure they do not lose the criteria Caryl has worked with him on. .
Ellie
21 May 2025
We have changed our approach to Ellie's re-training since I have stopped running until after surgery. Caryl signed her up to run in the Sophomore Level in the Agility League. She ran her first course last week and was fantastic. She had 2 clean runs and only had one refusal at the teeter on her one run which when Caryl brought her back she did it on the 2nd try. She was fast and happy. Hopefully we can build her confidence and get this to carry over in a trial.
Ellie Still loves running Fast Cat and earned her Dcat Title last month. We do think this is her favorite sport and her excitement has carried over to Deeks. Once they know where they are they start crying and barking to get into the ring. Ellie even lets out a few howls as well.
Gibbs
21 May 2025
Due to my back issues, we decided to stop competing with Gibbs until I can run again. I felt Caryl needs to spend her time working with Deeks, and the fact that Gibbs is so different to run that it wasn't fair to Caryl. She is still running him in class to keep Gibbs active. A little rest is good for him as well.
