In 2014 we decided to add another pup to the team so we went back to Ziva's breeder and Caryl picked Ace to join the family. Ace is the only member of team collies that is not named  from someone in NCIS. Once Ace was old enough to start training Caryl started working with him.  He had some tough shoes to fill following Ziva but he did well. Ace measured for jumping 24 inches but being the bar knocker he was and his being heavy boned Caryl started him in Preferred which he ran his entire career.

Ace had a heart of gold and would do anything for Caryl. He enjoyed being in the ring and working for her. For the first few years he struggled with knocking bars and we even had a trainer tell us he just wasnt a jumper and may never advance in the levels. We would not give up on him and after changing trainers and a lot of strengthening work Caryl had him jumping and running at a decent pace. They actually became a team that had a future. Ace started making the Mad Dog Agility top 10 list and was showing up in the AKC rankings.

October 2021 Ace earned his PAX/PACH at Skyline Agility Club. He then Qualified for the 2022 National Agility Championship in Ocala Florida. Ace did go and ran in the NAC in April of 2022. Ace was also Qualified for the Westminster Championship which we entered him in.

In late April Caryl discovered a lump on Aces side. We were concerned and made a vet appointment. Unfortunately he came down with a respiratory illness and could not be put under so they could do biopsies. We finally were able to get them done in early June. Unfortunately the diagnosis was bone cancer. The outlook was not good and we opted to keep him comfortable. Unfortunately Aces career came to a halt which he had a hard time understanding.

When it came time for Westminster we decided to take him and enjoy the day with him. It was too late to withdrawal him so he was in the run orders. While we were at the jumpers ring Ace kept pulling to go in the ring. WE talked about it and decided to let him try. The worst case Caryl would excuse them from the ring. Well ace was in heaven but when it was time for the weaves he pulled out. We are sure he was sore from the previous biopsies. We figured he was done but once again he pulled and wanted to enter the standard ring. WE struggled with the decision but Ace won. He ran the standard run and did great. A bit slow but he was running happy. The weaves were at the very end and if he struggled Caryl was going to pull him out of them. Well he did pop out and Caryl skipped the rest. Ace finished happy and if not for the weaves would have qualified. This was Aces retirement run.

Ace lived a lot longer than expected and enjoyed the time he had left. He would still run and play with the others and even wanted to play on the equipment in the back yard. He did not travel with us after being diagnosed and would stay home with our older son. He was not happy about that but it was best for him. Ace crossed over to the rainbow Bridge in June 2023
